2 Day visit of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affaires
For Consular, Parliamentary and Iranians Affairs to Mumbai
His Excellency Mr. Shahidi, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Consular, Parliamentary and Iranian Affairs along with Mr. Chegeni, Director of the Students Department and Mr. Osloob Deputy Director in Nationality office visited Mumbai from 24th to 26th October 2008. During their two day visit among the programmes to look into the problems being faced by the Iranian Nationals also called at the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mumbai. At the outset of the meeting of the Iranian Elites Club at the residence of the Consul General all the members described problems and their points of view vis-à-vis Iranian Society domiciled in Mumbai. H. E. Mr. Shahidi emphasized on providing the good service and solving the problems of the Iranian nationals and it was decided that special provisions would be made at the Tehran to resolve the problems faced by them.
In the second programme H. E. Mr. Shahidi visited
K. R. Cama Oriental Institute and inspected the procedure
of repairing the old scripts and delicate scriptures of the
library of the Institute and later on he also met with the
Chairman
and other office-bearers in a very cordial atmosphere where he
was elucidated on the history and working of the Institute.
H. E. Mr. Shahidi also visited the shrine of Late Saifuddin, 50th vicegerent of Bohras and met with a number of Bohra Leaders and discussed religious matters with them.
Second day of the delegation’s visit coincided with the anniversary of martyrdom of 6th Imam, Hazrat Jafar Sadegh (peace be upon him), and a commemorative meeting was held in this regard at Darbar-e-Husaini of Anjuman-e-Fotowwat Iranian. H. E. Mr. Shahidi attended the said meeting and also addressed the Iranians present there.
It is useful to mention here that Mr. Chegini alongwith the Consul of the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mumbai visited Pune and met the Iranian students in the amphitheatre of the University of Pune and exchanged the views with them. He also visited the Iranian Imambara and held a joint meeting with the students and Iranian domiciled in Pune.
