On the occasion of the 19^th Anniversary of the demise of Imam Khomeini on Saturday, 6^th June 2008 at Islam Gymkhana a programme was organized.

The programme was attended by prominent poets and writers of Iran along with officials and cultural and social personalities and poets and friends of Imam Khomeini from India.  In this programme two Indian poets recited the couplets describing the personality of Imam Khomeini.Mr. Mostafa Rahman Doust and Mr. Hossein Jani, the Iranian poets also recited their poems. Other speakers of the programme were Prof. Abdul Rahman, Mr. Bubere, journalist and Messrs Mojtaba Rahman Doust, Adviser to the President of Iran and Ali Mohammadi, Iranian Consul General in Mumbai.

Mr. Rahman Doust in his speech said that we cannot find any human being better than Imam Khomeini (r.a.) who have emulated the infallible personalities. Imam Khomeini was a complete human being who has identified their eternal messages and has put them into practice in daily life.

Iranian Consul General Mr. Ali Mohamamdi while paying condolences for Fatimeyeh Days and demise of Hazrat Zahra (s.a.) said many philosophers and scientists have attempted in the field of poetry divinity but the character of Imam Khomeini and his place was unique among his contemporaries which enabled him bring together thousands of the lovers of Allah and people will to sacrifice in His name.

Imam Khomeini was not only remarkable in theosophical poetry but his messages on different occasions have become famous and reached across the geographical boundaries of Iran. Some of his unforgettable messages such as ‘Victory of blood over sword’ which was given in the month of Moharrum of 1978, ‘America, the Great Satan’. His messages on the domestic front also were remarkable, such as: ‘Parliament is the centre of all activities’ ‘scale of the people are their votes’ have impacted the Islamic revolutionary literature and will remain forever.

Mr. Mirzaei the Director of the Culture House of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mumbai as the next speaker praised the unique stance of Imam Khomeini's poems in Persian literature.  

At the end the guests were treated to the dinner. This programme was organized by the Culture house (the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mumbai) in association with NGO Sahyog  Foundation.
